The vast majority of Tysons citizens are in agreement: our neighborhood is not the place for a casino to be built.

A casino in Tysons would have detrimental impacts on the community that we call home. Bringing thousands of more vehicles every day onto our local roads, a rise in crime and negatively altering our otherwise successful and vibrant community.

A large casino development like the one that legislators have in mind for Tysons would exacerbate existing traffic issues in our area.

Daily congestion is already a headache for commuters in Tysons and the surrounding areas, and the introduction of a casino would only worsen the situation.

Routes 7 and 123 are already congested, and they cannot take thousands more cars per day from a casino in Tysons.

In addition, cut-through traffic in residential neighborhoods in Tysons would create chaos for our community.

The prospect of traffic standstills during large entertainment events is a particular threat, affecting not only the daily routines of residents but also the overall functionality of the region.

A casino project in Tysons would undermine the success and reputation of our thriving community.

Property value in the neighborhoods surrounding Tysons are expected to decline as a result, according to data from the National Association of Realtors. This would hurt not only homeowners, but also brick-and-mortar business owners in the community.

Large entertainment venues like casinos also have been proven to draw potential customers away from local businesses, which we would see happen to our beloved businesses here in Tysons.

Casinos also have a tendency to bring an influx of crime to communities, which threatens the safety of residents.

A 24/7 casino also would increase the risk of having drunk drivers on our roads, which would pose a risk to community members across Tysons.

Not a single community in Tysons has asked for a casino in our neighborhood. This legislation was custom-made for one large corporate developer who has spent millions of dollars trying to influence elected officials to support his plan to put a casino in one of the worst traffic spots in the region. 

We need to stand up against legislators who are trying to damage our community by bringing a casino development into our backyard.
