NOVA RESIDENTS SPEAK OUT AGAINST A CASINO IN TYSONS
The Virginia General Assembly is debating a proposal to allow a 24/7 casino in Tysons, which would negatively impact Tysons and surrounding communities.
We asked Northern Virginia residents about what a casino in Tysons would mean to them…
Here’s what they had to say:
“We don’t want a casino in our backyard… There is going to be crime and other issues that are going to arise. In a high-end area like ours, where tax payers pay top dollar, they do not want this… Please make sure to stand up for us.”
– Leila N. (McLean, VA)
Add Your Voice:
“My primary reason for no to a casino is that I find it even hard to actually move in that neighborhood because it’s overly congested. There are already too many people, too many cars… For that reason, I am against the casino.”
– Annette C. (McLean, VA)
“Do you really want to kill the backbone of Virginia’s economy here in Northern Virginia? Please stop this bill. As a parent. As a business leader. As a member of my community. Don’t do this to us.”
– George S. (McLean, VA)
Northern Virginia residents agree: Don’t let a casino come to Tysons
“Traffic conditions would be so terrible. They are already a mess in Virginia, especially in the Fairfax and Tysons area. It will just increase the traffic by a hundredfold. I just don’t see the need. We don’t need more traffic.”
Philip L. (Fairfax, VA)
“If you put a casino in Tysons Corner, the crime rate will increase dramatically. It’s not worth the money.”
Nathan P. (Vienna, VA)
“Casinos bring trouble and riff raff. Please oppose the casino in Tysons Corner. And we don’t need the traffic either. And we certainly don’t need the money.”
Lorraine O. (Reston, VA)
“It is morally unethical for that casino to be placed at Tysons.”
Ellen J. (Annadale, VA)
“I am against the casino because I’ve seen a number of people who have lost their family, wife and home just because of gambling. Do not bring gambling to our neighborhood, please.”
David M. (Vienna, VA)
“We do not need anymore traffic or more people, including gamblers who are wasting their money… Gambling is a waste of money, and we don’t need people accumulating around here to do that.”
